Welcome to the Blackboard Awards 2008! For the seventh consecutive year, the publishers of Our Town, West Side Spirit, New York Press, New York Family and Avenue are putting together a multi-part education program to celebrate what works in city schools—and to identify what could use improvement. You can do several things on this website:

Take Our Survey: Opinions and comments entered through our survey will be combined with entries from hundreds of other families and used to compile our “Constructive Criticism” section.

Nominate a Teacher: Know a fantastic educator? Nominate your favorite teacher for a Blackboard Award today. Deadline: Friday, May 16.

Nominate a Principal: Know a fantastic school leader? Nominate your favorite principal for a Blackboard Award today.

2007 Blackboard Awards: Read profiles of last year’s honorees and see photos of the 2007 event.

Submit a Story Idea: Our Town and West Side Spirit, as well as New York Family magazine and our newest addition, New York Family Brooklyn, cover education year-round. If you have an idea for a story, share it with an editor.
